Garden studios floors
The floor joists are in-filled with high performance housing grade insulation (CFC/HCFC-free rigid polyurethane insulation core with composite foil facings on both sides, manufactured to the highest standards under quality control systems approved to BS EN ISO 9001:2000) and span the foundation system.
A polythene DPM (Damp Proof Membrane) layer, in combination with the vented cavity created using the foundation steels, prevents moisture reaching the underside of the floor. A high density galvanised rodent-proof steel mesh, underpinned to the joists, protects the flooring material and supports the insulation and keeps out vermin. The floor is finished around the perimeter with a metal trim flashing to integrate the walls and floor and to protect the floor and foundation.
Fixed with screws to avoid squeaking, a sub-floor of OSB (Oriented Strand Board) interlocking sheeting is applied on top of the floor joists and insulation, providing a sub-floor ready for the final flooring material of your choice, which can be laminate, engineered wood, carpet, linoleum, rubber, tiles or a solid wood floor.
