Garden rooms standard electrics
All our garden rooms have a generous electrical fit-out which is detailed in the CAD drawings for each product range. The standard package includes an independent consumer unit (fuseboard) with in-built RCD (Residual Current Devices - designed to help prevent electric shock and other accidents due to faulty electrical appliances or wiring) protection, trip switching on each circuit and a mains isolator fused switch. Additionally, there are flush wall-mounted 13 amp double sockets on a main ring circuit, flush wall-mounted telephone and data points with ISDN broadband compatible cabling. All socket and switch plates are standard white fittings.
To provide a quality internal finish all cabling is concealed within the structure, so there will be no surface-mounted cables or trunking. A feed cable from the consumer unit is brought to the outside of the building and terminated in a rotary switch. Your own electrician would need to carry out the electrical cabling and connection between the outbuilding and the existing house; it is a simple case of connecting the cable from the house into the rotary switch.
Part P of the Building Regulations was introduced by the government in 2005 and affects all electrical work carried out in home and gardens. Our Electrician will carry out a Part P compliance test and issue the related certificate.
